The Ladera starts at Izaña at 2,300 meters altitude. Driving through Anocheza you reach the coast of Las Bajas (about 500 m altitude).
At the foot of the mountain there is the Barranco de Badajoz or Barranco de Chamoco, as it was called by the aborigines.
Declared as a natural area, here are the most important Canarian plant formations represented. It is crossed by the road C-822 (Carretera Vieja) and the old Camino Real, which encircles the island and is still preserved.
