Ancient Hotel Buen Retiro

The “Buen Retiro” was the residence of the Marquess of Florida and became a tuberculosis patient hotel at the end of the 19th century. On one side of the building there is the chapel "Nuestra Señora de Belén", built in the 19th century. The building was sold by the heirs of the property to a private individual a few years ago.

Nowadays it has several functions: It is still an accommodation, has a restaurant and a small museum, which gives the visitor the opportunity to make a journey into the past. In its garden, this hotel has a dragon tree, which is probably a son of the famous dragon tree of Icod de Los Vinos.

The Buen Retiro Hotel is also a "house of sound and music". Therefore, it is recommended to visit it on Sundays because at 11am it is possible to see how traditional instruments are played.
